Message from the President
Dr. Abiola Saba| 1982 Set
I am honored to be entrusted with leading this incredible organization to the next phase of our successful journey.
We are proud of our chapter’s successes over the years, particularly in providing more opportunities and meaningful connections for our members.
In the years ahead, we aim to support our school at a level not seen before, grow connections, and see OLAOSSA Elevate.
We are on the road to growing this association and request that if you are an alumni and not a member, you join the OLAOSSA North America chapter. Join us as we build capacity, strengthen bonds, impact future generations, and create a significance that outlives us.
Please continue to visit us on the website and social media platforms for information on future Alumni activities.
Our Vision
Fostering a vibrant network of OLASS Yaba, Lagos, Nigeria alumni in North America, united by a shared commitment to excellence, lifelong learning, and uplifting the legacy of our alma mater.
Who We Are
The idea of Our Lady of Apostles Secondary School, Yaba, Lagos, Nigeria Alumni Association USA-Canada was hatched in 2011 at a Cheesecake Factory dinner with Esther Macauley, Edith Ibuzo, Frankie Alika, and Feyisitan Okulate. Thereafter, Roli Aroyewun resuscitated the idea after some years to establish the alumni in the UK (United Kingdom) and the United States of America. Through several teething stages, we evolved into a non-profit 501(c)3 organization servicing the local communities in various states in the USA, Canada, and the Caribbean Islands.
We made several donations to our alma mater, Our Lady of Apostles Secondary School, Yaba, as well as donations to the Boys and Girls Club USA. We donated hygiene products to the female prisons in Maryland, USA. In 2022, OLA Alumni Association North America collaborated with the OLA Old Girls Association in Nigeria to establish and finance a train-the-trainer program, Mentoring the Confident Girl Child, led by Dr. Abiola Saba of OLA North America. Participants included 43 facilitators (OLA alumni). 100 students, and about 20 executives from both the USA and Nigeria. The Confident Girl Child Program was a huge success and a positive way to build and nurture our girls. Funds from this fundraising gala will be used to sustain this training program, and support the school health clinic, the boarding house, as well as our various community outreach programs in the USA.
